Lawyers and relatives of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán will start a hunger strike outside the Federal Social Rehabilitation Centre number one, known as El Altiplano, located in Alomoloya de Juárez, in the State of Mexico, due to the ill treatments that the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel has been receiving in the maximum security prison.

It was announced that the protest would start at 12 and will be headed by defense attorneys Andrés Granados, Juan Pablo Badillo and José Luis González.
Badillo Flores accused the the penitentiary authorities of torture and not letting his client sleep, which has endangered his health.
“This is against inhumane torture, the infamous torture they have been perpetrating on our client, not letting him sleep, which has caused severe disorders in his health which is already severely deteriorated.
They say they make rounds every 4 hours, that their security protocol demands it. They are wrong, they are ignorant of the law, the constitution states as inhumane tortures these methods of not letting the interns sleep, in this case our defendant.”
