Various demonstrations hindered mobility in the capital of Oaxaca and surrounding locations

Highways in Oaxaca City and the surrounding area were paralyzed on Wednesday due to demonstrations from various factions who protested delayed payments, the increase in fuel prices and better living conditions for indigenous people.

Protesters from the municipality of Santiago Xiacuí, located in the Juárez Sierra, blocked access to one of the main avenues in Oaxaca City demanding the demotion of municipal head Luis Silva Hernández.

Members of the organization “Sol Rojo” and the Popular Student Front marched across the capital city protesting the “gasolinazo.” The Indigenous Campesino Front demanded the allocation of resources for infrastructure for the people of the Papaloapam basin, the Istmo and the Mixteca.
