The plenary session of the Constitutional Assembly met on Friday to resume the analysis, discussion and approval of the 76 articles comprising the draft for a new constitution for Mexico City.
Discussions will begin on the first preliminary section which refers to the general principles that acknowledge — for the first time — the autonomy of the city as well as the resources to exercise public sovereignty.
President of the Commission of General Principles Enrique Jackson assured the assertiveness of the work that has been carried out in the past weeks and ruled out any content contrary the country’s constitution.
“All definitions, limits and guidelines are bound to and grounded in Mexico’s constitutional framework,” said Jackson.
