Three access points to the Cerro del Fortín, where the Guelaguezta festival is usually held, were blockaded by members of Section 22 of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE) in Oaxaca.
CNTE members congregated near the Public Security Secretariat checkpoint on Niños Héroes and Santa Rosa streets, near to the Cerro del Fortín.
Traffic jams caused by blockades in nearby streets have also been reported.
Oaxaca Gov. Gabino Cué Monteagudo said it was unfortunate that a group of “pseudo-teachers” would damage the economy and image of the state, especially when taking actions such as boycotting the Guelaguetza.
