Late on Sunday a nightclub in Xalapa, state of Veracruz, was assaulted by an armed comando of four, which proceeded to shoot the customers, leaving 5 dead and many wounded.
The prosecutor of the state of Veracruz, Luis Ángel Bravo Contreras informed on the number victims in the “Madame” nightclub during a press conference.
The official added that, following investigations, the motive for the attack could be a dispute among drug trafficking groups, due to testimonies that indicated that the four attackers directed their shots at a specific table. However, no lines of investigation are being discarded.
“We can establish that the armed individuals arrived and immediately started shooting towards a specific point, due to which, based on proofs, it can be determined that during these events there were colateral victims of this cowardly attack, which was probably directed at a this specific target. In total there were 14 people wounded, of which 12 are out of danger and will be discharged from the hospital in the next hours. Of the two remaining, one has unfortunately just passed away and the other remains in a very delicate state.”
The prosecutor detailed that 27 cartridges were found at the scene of the crime, from AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles.
Bravo Contreras explained that t he commando arrived shortly after midnight on board a Sedan-type vehicle and a motorcycle, in which they later escaped and which currently being sought.
