In order to strengthen relations with araba countries, the Foreign Relations Secretariat (SRE) inaugurated the Arab Week in Mexico 2016.
The inauguration took place at the Mexican chancellory, where SRE Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Kuwait’s ambassador to Mexico and the dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors Sameeh Essa Johar Hayat stated their commitment to the strengthening of nations.
Ruiz Massieu reiterated her interest in building closer ties with Arab countries, as proven by the official visits undertaken by President Peña Nieto in January to the four countries of the Arabian Peninsula.
Ambassador Hayat was on the same wavelength when he underlined the commitment of the Council of Arab Ambassadors to deepen ties of friendship and cooperation with Mexico, trough initiatives that promote a better understanding between societies.
During this week events will take place seeking to spread the richness of Arab cultures among the Mexican population and promote greater economic, academic and cultural exchanges. The program includes conferences on the current situation in the Middle East, exhibits of craftwork and photography as well as a forum to identify and spread commerce and investment opportunities between Mexico and the Arab countries, with the participation of Mexican businessmen and business associations.
As part of the commemoration, the Arab Ambassadors will be received at the senate of the republic, to stress the importance of parliamentary diplomacy between Mexico and Arab countries.
