Amnesty International disqualified the conclusions presented by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), on the third report of the fire in the Cocula landfill.
Through a press release Erika Guevara-Rosas, Director for Amnesty International of the Americas, said the Mexican government report on the results of a new forensic analysis of the fire in the case of the forcibly disappeared 43 Ayotzinapa students does not prove anything, and only plays with the suffering of families, denying them their right to truth and justice.
Amnesty International criticized that this preliminary report was presented with in a conclusive manner.
“All that the expert report proves is that at some point in history there was a fire or a series of fires in the Cocula landfill. But for months it has been argued that there have been fires in the area for almost a decade,” said Guevara-Rosas.
He added that, “Trying to disguise the results to be presented as something innovative is a totally coarse approach.”
On April 1, the PGR reported the preliminary results of appointed experts to present a new study on dynamics of fire in the Cocula landfill, site of the presumed cremation some or all of the 43 student teachers, without having fully arrived at that conclusion.
The fire report was carried out by the authorities after the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) presented results that refuted the theory of the PGR’s historical truth.
