Unknown assailants ambushed members of the municipal police in Aquila, Michoacán, while the officers were on a surveillance tour along a coastal road.

The municipal police called for radio support and a short time later received it. Three of the injured were taken to hospitals in the region to receive further medical attention, while the rest were treated at the town hospital.
