From Alebrijes to Smoothie Tunes, this music-jam-packed weekend will have something for everyone

THURSDAY

Check out the show “Voz Raíz” in Teatro de la Ciudad de México. Cuatro Minimal, Cabezas de Cera and Dora Juárez Kiczkovsky will be be collaborating for a sonically and culturally diverse musical experience. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and you can find tickets for 136 pesos here.

FRIDAY

Head over to Bahia Bar in the evening for Smoothie Tunes Presents. The platform which supports innovative and upcoming artists will be bringing acts from the faraway, mysterious land of Brooklyn. Acts include Jackie Mendoza, UPPER and BrunOG. Head over to the Facebook event page for links to their SoundClouds and Twitters. The cover is 70 pesos and the bar is on Tolsá 36 in Juárez.

SATURDAY

During the day you can stop by the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco for talks and workshops for the whole family where kids can learn about the pre-Hispanic traditions of Day of the Dead. Make sure to email ahead to reserve a spot. You can find all the information here.

Festival Latinoamérica 360 takes place this Friday in Bajo Circuito in Condesa. The festival brings together acts from all over Latin America. This year’s lineup includes The Guadaloops from Mexico, La Tostadora from Colombia and Van Fan Culo from Ecuador. Tickets starts at 180 pesos.

SUNDAY

Latin Grammy Award winning Lila Downs is coming to Mexico City to perform in the Auditorio Nacional. With nine albums under her belt, she’ll be sure to put on a show. Tickets are sold out for Saturday, but you can still find tickets for Sunday at around 1,000 pesos here.

We’re sure you’ve seen the fantastical creatures lined up on Reforma over the past few weeks. Beginning at noon on Sunday, you can watch all 200 of them roll down Reforma during the Alebrije parade. The parade will start in the Zócalo and will end at the Angel of Independence.
