In response to complaints of falsification and violation of copyright by the Mexican artists Jorge and Javier Marín, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) destroyed 93 copies of sculptures by Jorge Marín, after they were secured from various stores and markets in the city.

“The amount of falsification is alarming. This may seem indulgent or funny to many people, but it’s a very serious issue,” said Jorge Marín.

The sculptures, most of which were offered for sale at the Lagunilla market in Mexico City, priced between 300 ($17.07) and 200,000 pesos.

The leftover material will be used to make a new sculpture designed by Javier Marín.
