APPS & BOTS
Quicktime is a great resource for MacOSx users but sometimes there are missing codecs or things that stop you from being able to fully enjoy your media. Windows media player only truly works for windows. And both of these only manage to play certain extensions but not all of them. There’s also the iTunes option, but sometimes iTunes takes too long to open when you only want to watch one video or listen to one song.
So what happens when you need a media player that can play anything you’d like without the hassle? That’s where VLC player comes in. Here at The News we’re going to let you know some of the benefits of using VLC player.
What is it: VLC is described as “open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, audio CDs, VCDs and various streaming protocols.” So yes that means it can play media from DVDs, mp3s, mp4, wmv, etc.
How much does it cost? Nothing at all considering it’s free to download and it’s available for pretty much every platform.
Is it easy to use? Yes it is fairly simple to use. And if you have the know-how, you can easily tweak both the video and the audio playback to fit your needs.
Other Features: Other great features it includes are the ability to make screencaps and playlists with both video and music, that way you don’t have to go back to your files and play them one by one. You can also change the way you view things from fullscreen to half screen.
And of course, there’s the download subtitles option for everyone who loves subtitles or needs them to fully appreciate a video. While VLC does have its occasional problems, like all others, it’s one of the best available options at the moment.
