The technology world is a buzz with news of the iPhone 8. Sure it’s been only a year since the iPhone 7 and 7 plus were released, but it seems like a lot has changed in the meantime. Apple fanatics can’t wait to get their hands on the newest versions of Apple’s pride and joy. Here at the News we’ll tell you what we know about the new iPhone installment. We should note this is about the iPhone 8, not the iPhone X which was just announced.

Changes in Design: The models look to be around the same as they have since the iPhone 6 was released but there are a few design changes that are worth mentioning. For example now there’s a new glass back. This is, of course, to facilitate matters for one of the most awaited changes, wireless charging.

So, it will have a glass rear, an aluminum frame, and should be both water and dust resistant. It will come in three colors: Silver, Space Grey and Gold.

Sadly, there’s still no 3.5mm headphone jack, which seems have gone away for good, to our dismay.

Wireless Charging: While there is still no headphone jack, you no longer have to choose whether to use the port for your wired headphones (using the extension that comes with the phone) or to use it to charge your phone. You can do both at the same time once again with the new wireless charging. All you have to do is place your iPhone 8 on a charging pad and you’re good. Of course, said charger will be sold separately.

Also the battery is supposed to last two more hours than the previous model (iPhone 7).

A new charging pad was announced, called AirPower, which you can use to charge all your Apple devices at the same time. This will be available next year.

Power: Brand new A11 Bionic Chipset, which means that the loading times will be faster, and both the gaming experience and battery have improved. It has an 70 percent improvement on the graphics of the iPhone 7.

Camera: Comes with a new 12-megapixel that is supposed to be larger, faster and has optical image stabilization.

The iPhone Plus has new sensors that offers f/1.8 and f/2.8 apertures and portrait lighting, a feature to adjust lighting in portrait shots.

The video feature has also gotten an improvement as it can now capture 4K/60fps video. Slow motion videos will support up to 1080p resolution at 240fps

Other Features: It’s supposed to be the first smartphone designed for augmented reality as the cameras are calibrated for AR and come with a new gyroscope and accelerometer. And for emoji fans, animoji (aka animated emoji) will show up in iOS 11.

Pricing: So far the pricing looks standard for Apple with $699 for the 64GB iPhone8, while 8 Plus 64B will be at $799. There will also be a 256GB storage available for both models but pricing has not been announced.

Preorder starts on September 15 and will be released September 22.
