Mexico and Cuba to Reinforce Relations in Tourist Business Forum

MÉRIDA, Yucatan — Authorities and business representatives from the tourism sector will meet in the First Mexico-Cuba Tourism Business Forum, that will take place June 7-8 in the Yucatán XXI Century Convention Center.

The meeting seeks to increase trade relations, as well as business promotion and to strengthen the value chain of the tourism sector between the two countries; including lectures, analysis round tables and business meetings.

The event will begin Tuesday with the opening ceremony of the National Perspectives forum from the tourism sector in Mexico and Cuba, and with the participation of Yucatán Governor Rolando Zapata, the head of the Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) Enrique de la Madrid, and Cuba’s Tourism Secretary Manuel Marreo.

That day will also hold, among other activities, a logistics connectivity table with Cuba involving the shipping and airline industry, where sides will talk about the current state and prospects of connectivity between the two countries; together with the meeting B2B businesses held by Mexican and Cuban entrepreneurs and investors.

The program will continue through June 8, with lectures on procedures for suppliers in Cuba and how to do business in Cuba, among other activities.

According to the Sectur, the participants at the forum of Mexico-Cuba tourism business highlights managers or hotel chains like Gaviota, Cubanacán, Gran Caribe and Habaguanex.

Diverse companies are being represented, such as restaurants, golf courses and Palmares theme parks, Caracol shops, travel agencies like OSD and Havanatur — international groups of tour operators from Cuba.
