Euro gains 34 centavos, yen up to 0.198

MEXICO CITY — Approaching the close of the currency exchange market Tuesday in Mexico City, the U.S. dollar was being sold for up to 19.36 pesos, 11 centavos higher than its opening price, and it was being bought at 18.28 pesos.

The euro rose significantly to 21.85 pesos, a 34 centavo change over the day, while the yen was offered at up to 0.198 pesos.

According to an analyst at CI Banco, Manuel Somoza, the Mexican currency could continue to depreciate depending on the attendance of Janet Yellen, head of the United States Federal Reserve, presenting the expectations on the next steps to be taken by the Federal Reserve.

The market has seen nine days of volatility and pressure as the world watches to see if Great Britain will leave the European Union.
