The dollar closed at a selling price of 18.89 pesos in Mexico City banks Monday, one centavo more than on Friday. The dollar was sold for 18.09 pesos.
The euro maintained its selling price of 21.10 pesos, and the pound and yen were sold at 29.74 pesos and 0.200 pesos, respectively.
Analysts from CI bank told a Mexican news agency that the peso is facing pressures due to a likely interest rate hike in the United States and low petroleum prices.
Mexico’s Central Bank (Banxico) set the official exchange rate at 18.5773 pesos per dollar.
