MEXICO CITY — At midday Tuesday, Mexico City banks were selling the U.S. dollar at up to 18.77 pesos, 13 centavos less than the day’s opening price, and buying the dollar for a minimum of 17.94 pesos.
The euro also declined to be sold at 21.22 pesos, representing a loss of 22 centavos, while the yen was down to 0.175 pesos.
Analysts at CI Banco attribute the value increase of the peso to the advance of petroleum prices.
