Gov. Carlos Lozano de la Torre (L) and INEGI’s Julio Alfonso Santaella met to discuss state policies on growth and development.

In leading the work meeting with Government Assembly of the National Statistics and Geography Institute (INEGI) president Julio Alfonso Santaella Castell, Gov. Carlos Lozano de la Torre said that his administration has established an alliance with INEGI that allows for exact and precise strategic planning for the growth and development of Aguascalientes. In the meeting, the results for a sample-based survey, which is a midterm update of the full national INEGI census, were presented. The governor said that Aguascalientes is above the national average in all categories and the state has made significant advances in its development indices. Lozano de la Torre said that he offered to completely get rid of the lack of capacity in the public state administration, “because these practices don’t only harm those of Aguascalientes, but they were also at the point of seriously endangering the future of the state,” he said. He said that because of this, INEGI has been a vital support in creating the dynamic that restored thorough analysis, appropriate planning and effective implementation of projects, plans and actions that strengthen the current development of Aguascalientes. The results of the survey show the high indices of development in the state, like school attendance rates between 2010 and 2015. In 2010, school attendance in the state was registered at 95.5 percent. Thanks to the public policies established by Lozano de la Torre, this percentage rose to 96.5 percent. The percentage of citizens 15 to 24 years in age that attend school has also increased substantially between the years 2010 and 2015. Before, only 39.4 young people were attending school and now the figure has risen to 44 percent. Because of this, it is not a coincidence that the average amount of education completed in the state is higher than the national average. THE NEWS
